INRIA is the French national institute for computer science and control which includes several research center across France. The Asclepios research team, formely known as Epidaure, is based in Sophia-Antipolis, near Nice, and is dedicated to medical image analysis and simulation. More precisely, the Asclepios team has three main objectives: the analysis of biomedical images with advanced geometrical, statistical, physical and functional models, the simulation of physiological systems with computational models built from biomedical images and other signals and the
application of previous tools to medicine and biology to assist prevention, diagnosis and therapy. To achieve these objectives, the research work is divided into four themes: medical image analysis, biological image analysis, computational anatomy and computational physiology. The Asclepios team is led by N. Ayache and strongly involved in the organisation of conferences (Miccai, Is4tm, ...), in the edition of scientific journals (Medical Image Analysis, ..), related to medical image analysis and simulation and is involved in many industrial, european and national research contracts.
