Emmanouil Athanasiadis

Dr. Emmanouil Athanasiadis is a biomedical Engineer. He received the BSc degree in Medical Instruments Technology from the Technological Institution of Athens in 2004, his MSc and PhD in Medical Physics from the Medical School of the University of Patras in 2006 and 2010, respectively which was funded by the Greek State Scholarships Foundation. He also worked as a research assistance on the Research Program ARCHIMEDES- “Reformation of Under Graduate’s Schedule”, as researcher assistant for 3 months (1.04.2004 –31.06.2004), on the Research Program PYTHAGORAS ΙΙ - ‘In vivo study of angiogenesis in animal models using state of the art image processing and analysis algorithms’ for 2 years (01.01.2005 –31.12.2006), on IST-2001-38911: ‘Self organized societies of connectionist intelligent agents capable of learning (SOCIAL)’ for 5 months (01.01.2005 – 31.05.2005). He also worked 6 months (01.10.2005-31.12.2005) and (01.10.2006-31.12.2006) as a subsidiary teacher at the School of Medical Science, University of Patras, Greece. The main topic of his work was to develop a reliable and robust gridding and segmentation method in segmenting cDNA microarray images with state of the art segmentation techniques. He also worked on brain MRI images trying to enhance the discrimination accuracy among metastases, gliomas, and meningiomas. Moreover, he worked on Digital Subtraction Angiography by helping to develop A Tool for Quantitative In-vivo Vascular Imaging.
