Ioana Ciuciu is a Marie Curie Early Stage Researcher at the Semantics Technology and Applications Research Laboratory (STARLab) at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel, Belgium. Her research at the STARLab concerns an ontological approach to 3D anatomical annotation.
Currently a PhD candidate, she has been doing research for three years starting from 2006 at the Gaspard Monge research team at the University of Reims in France. During her doctoral studies she has been working on the integration of trade-oriented surface deformations in a CAD system. She received the Master Degree in Computer Science in 2006 from the University of Babes Bolyai Cluj-Napoca, Romania in collaboration with the University of Metz, France where she did a research master and an internship in bioinformatics, on the subject of phylogeny reconstruction. In 2005 she obtained her Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from the Babes-Bolyai University Cluj-Napoca in Romania, with the project for the graduation thesis "Reverse Specification in Object Oriented Programming. Reverse Engineering".
Her research interests include geometric modeling, man-machine interface for CAD/CAM, scientific visualisation, ontology.
