3rd general meeting minutes

Aggelos Liapis has joined us as ER

Aggelos was born in Athens, Greece where he begun his studies as a software developer. In 1999 he moved to the UK to obtain his Bachelors degree in Software Development from the University of Lincoln. In 2003 he obtained my first Masters by research with distinction from the University of Hull in Computer Graphics and Virtual Environments. During that period he was under scholarship funded by Hewlett Packard. In 2004 he obtained his second Masters in Network Systems from Sunderland University. During that period he was under scholarship funded by ESF and British Telecoms. While doing his PhD in Computer Mediated Collaborative Design Environments (EPSRC funded) in the Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen he has developed a prototype collaborative environment focused to assist professional product designers when distributed during the early stages of the design process. Currently he is a member of the STARLab team working on the 3D Anatomical Human project under Marie Curie funding.

Caroline Öhman has joined us as ESR

Caroline is a PhD candidate and the Marie Curie Early Stage Researcher supervised by Engineer Massimiliano Baleani in the Laboratorio Tecnologia Medica at the Istituti Ortopedici Rizzoli, Bologna, Italy.

She obtained a Master of Science in materials engineering in 2005 at the Ecole Européenne d’Ingénieur en Génie des Matériaux (EEIGM), Nancy, France. During last year she worked in the Laboratorio Tecnologia Medica at the Istituti Ortopedici Rizzoli as a Junior researcher. She mainly did research on the characterisation of human bone tissue, developing experimental procedures and applying them to determine the mechanical properties of cancellous and cortical bone.
